Book box deal and FREEBIE

I've always wanted to organize my classroom library but I just didn't really have the time.  This past summer I  looked into the Daily Five and CAFE books by Gail Boushey and Joan Moser.  I was very determined to get my books organized so that my students could have an easier time selecting books.  I took a trip to the Dollar Tree and found the nicest baskets!  They are perfect for my chapter books.  I also found a box perfect for my picture books that I have organized by themes.  I usually only put out theme sets of books according to either what I am teaching or the season.  Some of my books though haven't seen day light in forever though.  These containers were so helpful and best of all only $1.00!  I created a freebie set of book box labels for my personal use but I also included several blank ones as well.  They're not anything real fancy but I like them.

Daily Five and CAFE

I am definitely going to try Daily Five and CAFE in my room this year.  As I was searching the Pinterest boards, I found one dedicated to just to this topic.  It is found here: Pinterest board CAFE and Daily 5.  On that site, I found one of the best free documents for helping to set it all up in your room from materials needed to where to look in the books for the ideas they mention.  I thought I would just share this info with you as well.  It can be found as a Google Doc here.
Cafe and Daily 5 document  If you don't have a Google account, I would highly suggest getting one.  There are so many excellent resources available to you from Google all absolutely free!

The Daily Five

I have been watching on Pinterest the different posts about the The Daily Five and "CAFE".  I've even pinned a few.  I had no idea what it was all about.  My friend and new teaching partner mentioned to me that she would like to do a reading workshop this year.  I absolutely loved the idea but decided I'd better do research so I would know more about it.  That is what led me to the book The Daily Five by Gail Boushey and Joan Moser.  It's been a long time since I've read a professional book that I couldn't put down.  I really love this idea and I am definitely going to put The Daily Five into practice in my classroom this year.  I will definitely post more from their book as I read through it.  My mind is too full of information to put any of it out here right now.  I'll go on and on.  It is definitely worth checking it out.  I bought in on my Kindle Fire and downloaded it so I could read it right away! The authors have the ebook set up so it is linked to the Internet and you can print what you need to print.  Good idea!  :)
